"8 days postpartum heamorrage"

(as the patient),

8 days after the birth of my daughter. I had a sudden burst of blood. I call NHS 111 to get some advice as I wasnt to sure if this could happen randomly. I took my clothes off and started to run a bath and sat on the toilet. During this time I was transfered to south west ambulance service, I explained that I gave birth 8 days ago, was on 7 days of fragmin injections. The operator miss signs of my heamorrage so did their midwife. To which the ambulance called to say they arent coming im not an emergency and to call the hospital delivery suite. I was panicking. And the hospital midwife told me to get in immediately... I got there and they took me to a room with loads of people waiting. 2 consultants were on hand. I went to theatre for 3 hours where they struggled to stop the bleed. I lost over 3. 2 litres of blood within the 2 hours from the start of the bleed, over half of the whole body amount due to delay in care. It was unnecessary pain and suffering because I was assumed to be over reacting. Thankfully the midwife at the hospital knew the importance and my life was saved.

I was just sharing my experience. Also the ambulance service has been made aware of their mistake and have taken responsibility for it. But Great western hospital delivery staff were amazing, as soon as I arrived I was seen straight away and not once was I left in doubt. Even when I was probably being a moody cow lol... but I was given pain killers and that shut me up for a while 😊

They are a fantastic team.
