"Queens medical hospital A&E Department"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus / Accident and emergency

(as a carer),

My Grandfather was in A&E on Christmas eve very unwell, it was a very stressful day for all of us. I wanted to write a posting about the care and treatment he received from the medical and nursing teams. The teams were very respectful towards my granddad treating him with dignity and respect. all of of the staff were very professional and even though it was a very busy day in A&E they spent a lot of time with my granddad and family ensuring he/we understood what the planned treatment would be.  There are too many people to mention but i just want to mention one specific person Ruth (advanced nurse practitioner) she was wonderful towards my grandfather. Thank you for making a very stressful day, less so.

My Granddad moved wards a couple of times, eventually placed on Harvey 1 ward. The staff were absolutely fantastic. My brother and i felt reassured that he was receving the highest quality of care.

The Occupational therapy team were amazing with him and us guiding us through the equipment he needed to return home.

I really appreciate all of their support and dedication towards patient care and treatment from all staff on Harvey 1 ward. Including the reception and catering team. (My grandfather was very complimentary about the food)

The media is often so quick to criticise A&E departments but what we experienced on that day was professional staff members, doing their jobs on a very busy day.

Again thank you.

A big thank you. I will make sure your feedback gets to Ruth and the others in our Emergency Department team, as well as staff on Ward Harvey 1. We all really appreciate you writing in to let us know about the good care your grandfather received on Christmas Eve and throughout his stay with us, and we are glad to hear he is now home and hopefully on the mend.

Best wishes to you and your family

Jane Newton
