I can't thank all the staff on the maternity unit enough, all the midwives, paediatricians, student midwives, Health Care Assistants, cleaners were really helpful, kind, knowledgeable and accommodating.
I was having contractions over a long period of time and the midwives were so sympathetic each time they checked me and I hadn't dilated enough! They kept me comfortable, fed and watered, and made the experience more bearable! They gave useful suggestions on how I could move it on and it eventually worked!
When I finally went into labour the room was brilliant! A great birthing pool and gas & air that followed me around the room - I went through a lot, but my midwife never let it stop flowing! All the way through my midwife kept me and my husband calm and explained what was happening. It was thanks to the care I was given that the labour went well and my little boy was born!
I've never been more vulnerable and I had no idea what to expect and all the way through they asked how I felt and what I wanted despite being busy.
After the birth we were given time to get to know our little guy and they made sure I had everything I needed. The facilities were great and we weren't rushed. Our midwife helped us dress him and took her time doing his checks, before we went to the ward.
On the ward I was regularly checked and offered cups of tea and toast! They offered advice and support with breast feeding and there was always someone there to answer my questions.
I couldn't have asked for a better experience.
Thank you very much MDGH - you are a fantastic service!
"A wonderful service"
