"Unorganised at the daycare unit in Sheffield"

About: Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust

(as a relative),

Our 8 year old had breakfast at 7am and last drink at 11am and presented to daycare unit at sheffield children's at midday. We were told list would start at 1.30.

At 1.30 I asked when it might be and were told that all the staff were 'usually home by 7pm'. Sat down again and then at 3.15 a nurse came and apolgised to say we should have been told there was a delay and that we were welcome to cancel. We decided to wait.

At just after 4 pm we were asked into a room by the consultant who then popped out, where upon a nurse appeared and removed the anaesthetic cream from the boy's hands. She then asked if the consultant had spoken to us yet. We said no and she muttered that it might have been better if she had waited until then to do that.

The consultant then came and said he has cancelled his list at 1.15pm and had failed to ensure that the unit knew this.
