I have been under the gynaecology dept for over twelve months under one particular consultant.
While the NHS is not perfect and the waiting list for an op has been a bit longer than 16 weeks, I have only praise for the care and support I have received. Throughout my time as a patient at Salford I have felt that staff have tried their very best to give me the care I need. I have been listened to, given choices, consulted on next steps and had personalised options presented to me. At all times the next steps have been clearly communicated and my wishes have been taken into account.
There has recently been a bit of a set back in terms of the operation going ahead, but when I call staff are reassuring, helpful and remember my circumstances. I feel the department is run well and my consultant is fair and honest (you can't always have what you want to hear!) and I am grateful for that.
My view is that the waiting lists are not the fault of the department, or the staff working there. My experience is that everyone is just trying to do their best to manage patients with challenging needs and whilst I said the NHS is not perfect, I am still pleased with the service I have received and I still believe in it.
