"Excellent care in the critical care unit (Heart..."

About: New Cross Hospital

I was rushed to Newcross hospital in September 2016. I was 26 weeks pregnant; had continuous severe asthma attacks and couldn’t breathe; very low oxygen levels and pneumonia. I was dealt with in a fast sensitive exceptional manner by all the team. Doctors nurses and healthcare assistants in the resus department in A&E. I was admitted to AMU which was a very hard experience for me. It was very short staffed. The staff that were on shift spoke very little English and didn’t appear to be concerned how my heart rate and respiratory rate was reaching. I was left in a considerable amount of pain and was also offered nothing to eat or drink for the 12 hours I was on the Ward. After getting very exhausted I was transferred to the critical care unit and spent 10 days on the ward. I cannot adult any of the care given to me by all the nurses and doctors on that ward. I am very very grateful. The nurses were lovely and kind and the doctors who looked after me made sure I was well looked after. I then had another admission one year later to the exact date; September 2017. And again was transferred to the critical care unit. The staff on the ward again were very good and looked after me well. On leaving the ward to be transported to C18 respiratory ward- I cannot believe how disgraceful some of the staff can act. Rude loud, no empathy, lacked compassion and hardly spoke a word to me. This was also difficult due to my partner being allowed to stay with me day and night on the critical care ward but only for 1 hour on the respiratory ward. The nurses kept me awake through the night being very loud and laughing loud and I also saw another member of staff asleep. The second time round on the ward was much better however again I was hardly spoken too. I am a registered nurse myself and know what it feels like to need high quality care and would just like to thank all the staff on the critical care ward for outstanding care as that is what. Certainly received on both occasions. Sadly my follow up appointments in the respiratory clinic I seem

To have to wait long periods of time for. The first wait is 5 months for my appointment since discharge from hospital which I do think needs attention especially when it relates to critical care admissions.
