I had my first aortic valve replacement in 1995. I needed this replacing in 2013. On both occasions I was treated on Doulton Ward under the same cardiac surgeon.
It may sound strange but these were the best experiences of my life. Having heart surgery is a very emotional experience. From the surgeon, nursing staff and support staff I was treated wonderfully. How blessed I was to be helped by wonderful people under the NHS which Is still free at the point of use.
