I showed up at A and E at Queens one Friday afternoon with a suspected wrist fracture.
Although the initial reception area was rather cramped and the receptionists a little tetchy with each other, I was soon directed to radiology where I waited for an hour. After that, there was a long wait before I could see a nurse, which was understandable on a Friday just.
before a Christmas. She was excellent, confirmed that my wrist as broken and I saw a surgeon straight away.
She manipulated my wrist, with the aid of gas and air, and my wrist was then out in a cast, then x rayed again. At all stages she and the nurse explained procedures clearly and I left in much less pain than previously.
When I went back to Outpatients 1 a week later to get another cast, I was in and out in less than an hour, which included an X-ray and two conversations with the doctor.
After four weeks I went back, again was in and out in an hour, after another X-ray and was discharged.
I found all staff pleasant, thorough and efficient, and was very happy with my care.
"Excellent A and E treatment"
