"Well worth a watch – Get clued up!"

About: Ashley House

(as the patient),

The outreach team gave me an overdose DVD to watch which included ‘how to give naloxone’.

It also included:

‘Going Over’ – 4 OD scenarios dramatised from real events. It gives very clear messages about responding to overdose.

‘Recovery’ – instructions on how to put people in recovery position, then to call an ambulance.

‘Mr Mange goes over’ – a dark comic cartoon about the causes of heroin overdose and how to avoid it.

Well worth a watch. Ask outreach at Ashley House for a WPY – Get clued up!

Thanks for your posting and please encourage all you friends to also obtain a copy of the D.V.D as it is very useful to have the knowledge of how to act in the event of overdose.

Naloxone is not presently available to service users and carers in a community setting, but Ashley House is keeping up to date with when it will hopefully be able to be distributed more generally including possibly via the intra-nasal route.
