"We were not told what was happening"

About: Heartlands Hospital / Maternity

(as a relative),

We were told to come into the maternity unit after my daughters waters broke so that they could check her.

We arrived at midnight and was told to wait in the observation waiting room, where we sat for one and half hours, in that time no one came to check on us we were just left there.

We asked what was happening and told you will be seen soon.

We then eventually got put into a cubicle and she was put on a monitor, again nothing was explained, again we had to ask but all we were told was have to wait for a doctor, eventually a doctor came but only saw one other person and then went. Again had we not asked I do not think we would not have been told.

At 3.40am my daughter was very upset and we left very unhappy.

I have to say that I found the waiting room was dirty and the chairs they expect pregnant women to sit are bad to say the least. the observation cubicle we were put in was not much better with cobwebs on the walls and fittings.

I hope that someone will please take a look at the way people are treated and the cleaning of what should be a clean environment.
