"Spent the night in pain due to a rude,..."

About: University College Hospital

Postnatal ward staff are really unprofessional, rude and arrogant, especially when they don’t take their 2 hours sleep break because they forgotten to sort out a few patients. They don’t even bother to read your full notes.

I was staying a second night at the hospital due to a complication during my c-section in result of which I was experiencing more pain and the midwife was angrily complaining to a colleague of hers how could I be still here when this is my second elective c-section and I should’ve been home instead of disturbing her break. Then she consulted somebody over the phone about the painkillers I can be taking without even mentioning about the complications during surgery which is a proof once again that they don’t even get familiar enough with your case. How unprofessional and upsetting that is? In fact this upset me so much that I couldn’t even relax or enjoy the time with my baby for the rest of the night. In the end of the day you and your child are placed there to be looked after and being taken care of, not having to listen to an angry, arrogant, unprofessional, shouting midwife, upsetting you and your newborn - the pain and discomfort is great enough and someone making you feel even greater discomfort is absolutely unacceptable. And I never received my painkillers. This is my second time given birth at this hospital. First time wasn’t any different regarding postnatal care but because the labour ward is very good and staff is really professional I’ve chosen UCLH again for my second time around hoping that things would’ve improved but how disappointing?! It is really upsetting that hospital like UCLH full of such an amazing labour ward surgeons and staff is getting low rates just because of a midwife staff unwillingness to work and unprofessionally attitude.
