"Maternity, neonatal and pediatric departments"

About: Broomfield Hospital

Over the last 3 months I have visited Broomfield regularly, first in an antinatal capacity when my waters broke at 28 weeks, I was both an in and out patient attending the DAU and antinatal clinic almost daily for 4 weeks. I then had my baby at 32 weeks gestation and my baby was looked after on the neonatal unit for 17 days. Unfortunately we then had to return a month later to the pediatric ward as my baby contracted bronchiolitis and was in a critical way. I can honestly say I do not have a single bad word to say about the hospital, the staff and the way we were treated and cared for individually and as a family. The nursing staff, midwives and drs were all absolutely fantastic at such an emotional and distressing hard time. We were constantly kept up to date on our babies progress both pre and post birth. On the DAU and antinatal unit the midwives were lovely and being as i was there daily they never made you feel a pain (even after calling them often for help). In the neonatal unit the nurses are exceptional both in their knowledge and their care to the babies, it is heartwarming to see and know your baby is in such good hands when you cannot be there for then every minute. And in the phoenix ward the staff and in particular some lovely health care assistants, are also very caring and accomodating. I had a huge hospital phobia but unfortunately my pregnancy meant I had to over come that, and honestly I cannot fault any aspect of care we received at Broomfield. Thank you!!
