"Visiting a patient in Llandough Hospital near Cardiff"

About: University Hospital Llandough

(as a friend),

I phoned to check my friend was still in hospital about half an hour before visiting time which was 2pm. I struggled to find a car park space and then had to walk uphill carrying all her gifts and cards which were really heavy, it was a warm day so this was really tiring and I'm usually a fit person. The ward name wasn't displayed on entering the hospital so i had to ask at reception and eventually found the ward which was a long walk again. When i got to the ward they told me my friend had been discharged at 11.30 that morning. I felt like crying. Then when i went back to reception and asked about making the system better so that it didn't happen again, the receptionists' attitudes were 'well it's not our faults - we get the list at 4.30pm the evening before and there's nothing we can do about it'.
