I have received 3x parking fines gathered over 2 days! £60 each if paid immediately so a total of £180!
The parking machine sign says the first 15 mins are free so, as I was only popping in, I didn’t see the requirement to get a ticket. Apparently if I’d have read the numerous Ts and Cs also on the board, I’d have seen that I needed a ticket regardless, even if it’s for the free period! In the end I was 16 min 10 secs - this was due to waiting for someone to rather slowly get into a parking space before I could exit. I wrote and appealed to the parking company’s common sense but they have turned my appeal down. Result: £60 fine!
The second and third fines were on one day where I entered the same wrong two letters at end of my vehicle reg. I still have the two parking tickets that prove I bought tickets. I have also appealed those and am waiting to see the outcome but am now not hopeful given their first response.
If the car park added barriers at the entry/ exit, any room for error would be prevented from happening as you couldn’t leave until you’d paid the required amount. Instead, as it is, you can leave but then get a letter saying you owe £60 (or in my case 3x £60) several weeks down the line. The cynic in me says this is perhaps intentional by the parking company; it’s just a shame that these terms are being accepted by the medical organisation on site which relies on the parking.
