I sustained a head injury a week previously (falling and hitting head against pavement) which I went to A & E in my home town but after initial triage, and knowing there was over 4 hour wait, I thought I would be fine and didn't want to make a fuss and left.
A week later, whilst visiting my son in Preston,
I was still having serious headaches but with the onset of ringing in ears and nausea and fatigue.
I rang GP who said, head injury, ring 111. I rang 111 and they said go to acute centre at the hospital, who said, head injury A & E. The receptionist on A & E was not particularly friendly but certainly wasn't rude and was professional.
I only waited 2 hours before I was seen by a friendly nurse practitioner who did a thorough check. I had all symptoms of concussion and was given reassurance and advice. My blood pressure was extremely low and this was also cross checked with a doctor before I was allowed to go home with the recommendation I sought advice on the blood pressure with my GP. The experience far surpassed my initial expectations. Thank you.
"Very pleased with the service"
