I was sent to A&E by my GP with a letter on 20/12/17 with some concerning symptoms that were worrying me & my GP. I had an MRI scan & report with me.
As a member of ED staff this was something I didn’t want to do at all and was very scepticle about being there. Only the staff that needed to know what was going on were aware. i did not want my colleagues knowing my medical history. I would like to thank Medical and nursing staff above all for their kind and supportive empathy shown to me.
My issues lie with the onward speciality (Spinal/ Orthopaedics) of who I was referred to. They were very rude and hostile towards me when they came to see me, I was treated with no dignity and compassion. The Registrar left me in tears having made some very unsympathetic remarks to me, saying he was only worried, if I couldn’t walk at all !!
I was in the department almost 7 hours that day, that not being the issue, but what is concerning is that a member of staff visits the department ( who does have knowledge) and is treated like this, the rest of the public don’t stand a chance !!!
