I slipped on ice & went to a&e in the early hours on a Sunday morning. I was seen quickly & xrayed. Having established I’d broken my leg, the nurses plastered me up. I was moved up to a ward. The only bed free was in a male ward & nurses were not happy with this. It was fine with me & I was settled quickly. The elderly gentlemen on the ward were lovely & the nurse introduced them all to me. I was moved to a female ward later that day.
The nurses, students & many other staff are all wonderful & a credit to the NHS. Orthopaedics has a lovely community feel as lots of patients are long term & real characters. I was entertained by the other ladies & enjoyed talking to them. I didn’t get to read any of the books I had lol.
I was discharged a few days later with everything I needed & out patient appointments have been very fast & efficient. I was seen before my appointment time whic I don’t think has ever happened before.
Wonderful friendly staff !
