"Waiting times out of control"

About: St Mary's Birth centre

I phoned up triage and was told to come in for assessment and was waiting a full 2 hours before being triaged. I arrived at 5 o clock. After triage it was another 3 hours before I was seen by a doctor and then another 3 hours until I was scanned (Dr was in theatre so this is understandable). The first two waiting times we were not updated on how long it would be or why we were waiting.

There was a woman giving birth in the waiting room. Hospital is clearly over capacity and doesn't have enough drs. There was a big splatter of blood on the floor on entering the hospital that had a wet floor sign out on it and was there from about 6pm to when we left at 1:30 am.

Overall the both times me and my partner have been here our experience has been the same and it's led us to not really wanting to give birth at this hospital.

Dear reviewer, thank you for your comments however we are concerned that this is review is not for St Mary's in Melton Mowbray (part of Leicester's Hospitals) as St Mary's is a very small maternity/birthing unit with no theatre facilities.

If however this is incorrect we apologise and would ask you to contact communications@uhl-tr.nhs.uk with your name, address, date of birth and we will contact the service manager for the maternity service and ask them to respond to you.

Kind regards, Communications Team, Leicester's Hospitals
