"Delay in ambulance attending me"

About: South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / Emergency ambulance

(as the patient),

Following a fall at my work place an ambulance was requested on the 999 service at 2.40pm. I was left (under instructions from the 999 service) on the concrete floor, and not to be moved. 30mins later 999 service called again...the first aid person was informed that the service was very busy, but will get to me soon. After this time I went into shock, after 1hr called again , informed only call back if the patient gets any worse; The ambulance did arrive at 5.50pm some 3hrs 10 mins later, Crew stated they were very sorry for the delay, had been told to attend a Drunk person, instead of me.

The crew were great, but on checking me found my blood pressure to be 290 over 170, the highest the crew had ever seen. Ambulance member called the Hospital and spoke to a Doctor on Duty. They were told to carry out an ECG in the back of the ambulance, and if not happy........ into hospital I would be going. thank goodness it had stared to calm down. Not very impressed over all with the duty of care.
