"Care and treatment at Neurological Dept"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Neurosurgery (Ward 64 – 66)

(as a service user),

I have been in the care of my Consultant Dr Murray assisted by Dr Goodfellow since 2015 and recently also Dr Ramachandran. The diagnosis and treatment I have received for a rare auto immune brain condition has been excellent, I have had 2 relapses during this period. At every stage of my treatment plan I have been fully involved in the decision making. As an experienced nurse of 30 years this is very important to me. Communication and a plan on how to access the service has been reassuring for me. The introduction of the testing for antibodies in Encephalitis now being undertaken in Glasgow with a quick turn around has been of huge benefit to me personally. Previously blood samples went to Oxford and mine took 1 month to be processed. Having an answer in less than 1 week allowed me to start prompt treatment. I can’t thank all the team enough for caring for me.

Dear heonpc34

Many thanks for posting on Care Opinion.

I am pleased to read about the care and treatment you have received, and that you have been fully involved in the decision making process. I am glad that the staff were able to reassure you.

I have shared your post with the Chief Nurse and the General Manager and asked that they share your post with Dr Murray, Dr Goodfellow, Dr Ramachandran and the team. I am sure that they will be delighted to receive your feedback.

Best wishes

Nicole
