Over several months I slowly lost my usual energy and appetite (usually very good for 88!), started to have headaches and my jaws became so tired and heavy that I couldn't chew or swallow. Then over a weekend found my eyes couldn't focus properly, so Monday morning went to see Dr. Christie at Shebburn Surgery. "My patient has given the diagnosis!", says he: " - you have temporal artritis". Blood tests taken, steroids prescribed. Next day he saw me again, the eyes now much improved and I generally feeling so much better. Within 3 days I was summoned by phone to the new D&GRI Emergency Rhuematology clinic, seen for a very thorough half-hour appointment with Dr. Drever followed by X-rays. Next day, back to Dr. Christie at Shebburn Surgery who already had Dr. Drever's report (and I had a copy by letter).
This wonderful care and attention continues - regular blood tests, slowly reducing steroids, etc. I cannot praise such service too highly. And at Shebburn Surgery if you want to see the doctor you go and sit in the waiting room - no appointments!
"The wonderful care and treatment"
