"Nowhere near as awful as I imagined! Thank you."

Having been invited to an urgent colposcopy appointment at short notice following an abnormal smear result, I was naturally terrified! I'm very anxious about anything medical at the best of times, so this really wasn't news I needed.

On arrival, I was actually called through for my appointment 10 minutes early which was great as I was only worrying more sitting in the waiting room. The colposcopist and nurses were really lovely. Very understanding and talked me through everything. They gave me gas and air to calm my nerves and help me through the whole thing, and went at my pace which helped a lot. I had to have a minor treatment there and then but they were so reassuring that I got through the whole thing far more easily than I expected and even feel slightly less anxious about all things medical as a result. I felt very safe and relaxed as they went at my pace and let me rest for a minute when I needed to.

I'm hoping that I won't need to go back again, but if I do I hope I get the same medical team as they were all absolutely brilliant. I said thank you at the time but wanted to say it again here.
