"My horrid time at ENT"

About: John Radcliffe Hospital / Ear, Nose and Throat

I’ve had some real issues with my ear for the past year starting last .My main symptoms are a low frequency hearing loss, tinnitus, migraines, and balance issues.ive been under many referrals with the hospital and

GP and have had a horrid time.At first it was believed to be a simple ear infection but a year on I still have balance and hearing issues and have real issues present. Each audiogram test I have had at the ENT clinic had suggested that somthing has damamged and affected my hearing so there is proof to match with my symptoms.Ive also had a balance test done that shows I have issues in the same ear.As I young man I find this very daunting the correct procedures where made to rule out anything sinister cancer, and other harmful things but once this was ruled out I seem to be left alone.Ive been out of work for almost a year and struggle with my balance and hearing I’ve been given long lengthy referral dates and told that I have something going on but there’s not much they can do,I’ve had a horrid time and wouldn’t like anyone to go through what I have.Ive had to kick up a fuss make complaints and be persistent in getting follow ups as they are dragging the whole process out I have real symptoms with proof yet the consultants and doctors I am seeing show no real concern and tell me they don’t no and that my 15 minuets are up I do not recommend the department at all and am very frustrated in the way they have treated and delt with me.The reception staff are all lovely and the people that do the hearing tests but the doctors that you see in the consultation room are patronising and abrupt not even letting you get a word in then shipping you out like cattle the whole system needs to be changed there is real evidence that i have issues and I’m trying my best to suppress my anger as there’s certain tests (vemp) and things of that nature that could determine what is exactly wrong with me but they are prolonging the process so much that my symptoms are getting worst.i can not recommend this department if you have any issues with your ears as they’ve been longwinded rude and arrogant with me I’m a young healthy man and have had no previous health issues. the time between appointments is terrible and the wait for results and calls is dragged out beyond belief,if you have the funds to go private, as these consultants one in perticular have no sense of help or urgency in them I’ve been forced to sit a year later in the same rooms with patronising consultants yap on telling me that my symptoms are definitely real but where not going to give you the correct tests in the best and quickest time.ive been through vtr Pherapy and ent physio an my symptoms are keeping me out of work yet the fast mouthed consultants that you can’t even ring to speak to unless you wait the 3 months until your next appointment bascically tell you to go home and deal with it..Terrible care for those with real issues affecting there life I hope this changes
