"A&E admittance"

About: The Tunbridge Wells Hospital / A&E and trauma unit

I had to be admitted to the A&E department on the morning of the 1st Jan after a fall at home, this was the first ever time I have had to use this service in my many years (58).

As a physically disabled local patient I was a little bit worried about what would happen as this is a busy time of year, why worry, with the standard of care being so high.

Firstly on this day it was extremely busy, but waiting in the corridor was made tolerable by all the staff involved, curtesy and helpful to us all.

Secondly once in the department this continued and the treatment was quick and VERY professional at all times, although I had to stay in A&E overnight and until the late afternoon on the 2nd Jan before transfer to a ward and then home in the evening.

This stay was made comfortable by all of the staff involved, from care assistants, nurses, doctors and consultants.

Dear Mr Baldock

Thank you for talking the time to tell us about your positive experience when you visited our Accident and Emergency department. We were pleased to read that although you had to wait in the corridor, you were treated with compassion and that the staff were professional and efficient once you were in the department. We will certainly pass on your thanks to the Matron for the unit. With kind regards, the PALS team
