on the 16th of December at 5.00 am i started to feel a pain in my throat that went to my chest. I didn't feel that it was to much to worry about but after encouragement from my wife i phoned 111 who after some questions sent an ambulance to my house. The paramedics were not too concern however when they hooked me up for an ECG they confirmed i was having an heart attack. They were brilliant and took me straight to the City hospital. On arrival i had to wait half an hour to go in for two stents to be fitted. They were done at 7.30 am only 2.5 hours after feeling the discomfort. The treatment during and afterwards was exceptional and i could not have got any better if i had been a millionaire. i am an extremely fit 54 year old(work out 3/4 times a week never smoked and have a great diet and no family history) who did not fit into any of the risk factors other than having psoriasis which i now known can contribute to heart disease so this came as a massive shock. When back on the ICU ward the nurse's were great assuring me that i was now OK and that i was in a better place than before because i had the stents fitted and i now knew that i had a problem that had been sorted. All of them including the Cardio Re ab have told me that i will get back to normal and be able to do what i did before. This was very important for me because this has affected me mentally more than anything. So i would like to finish by saying thank you so much words cannot do justice to the care and support i received and being back home two days later was the icing on the cake.
Best wishes to all the staff who looked after me and lets all hope for a better New Year.
