"Brilliant all to be let down by one individual"

About: Ashford Hospital

After being referred by my GP for an x ray, ECG and bloods this morning, I was very impressed (and relieved) that within 2 hours I'd had all three appointments with minimal impact on my day. All of the staff in those areas were very friendly and welcoming and made me feel at ease throughout. Sadly this does not extend to the member of staff on the main outpatients reception who actually I thought was rather rude. After receiving the unexpected news that I needed tests for my heart, I was incredibly worried and after I'd eventually remembered the way to the hospital, I arrived and found myself still in a muddle and needed a bit of help so approached the main reception desk. To say the member of staff had an attitude is an understatement- they assumed I knew where each department that I needed to attend was located and the tone of voice became even more stroppy when they needed to repeat the location stating "I've already told you this". All three departments are scattered over the hospital in three separate locations. I've never had to use these services before so how on earth would I know where they are. What if I was hard of hearing or I had another condition that made it difficult for me to understand or even I'd received some worrying news that morning which is why I'd been referred to those departments in the first place.

Very disappointing and I'd even go as far as say it's unacceptable and they're in the wrong job if that's their attitude. Thankfully everyone else was really very lovely.
