Followed referral by my GP in Sept I had a lengthy interview to access of the Brooksby Health and Therapy team could improve my various problems with mobility, namely osteoarthritis in both legs, residual groin pain from a hernia operation in February and a recurring problem with plantar fasciitis in both feet.
The following week I had the first of four visits ti the clinic and was seen by a nurse who talked things over with me about my ability to move about, standing, sitting and balance, areas and degree of pain in problem areas, from this I was given several exercises to do and various booklets.
Over this time I have seen a marked improvement in walking, gaining more strength and most importantly confidence in everyday activities. The exercises have had to be adjust to stop causing pain in certain areas of groin and/or feet, stressing not to do nay which induce pain.
My last visit was at the beginning of Dec, when a steady improvement had been maintained. My weight had reduced due to more and longer walks and a daily routine of exercises.
Throughout this period the nurses have been most helpful and a pleasure to work with.
As I am in my 70s, I realise that strength levels have decreased over the years, but with the expert guidance I received, my quality of life has improved and that it is up to me to continue what they have advised.
Many thanks.
