I accompanied an older person to an interview after a fall. We saw a trainee Doctor first who was very good at putting question and getting answers. He understood the need to speak directly and give time for a reply. Most importantly he understood that the concern was not just about the presenting symptions but a fear of not being able be independant and fear of the danger of a worse fall and resulting in more serious problems. We later saw the practise Doctor who was very though about the investigation. Set up tests and investigations, gave advice about further episodes and what to do. Most of all I was impressed with the sincerity, and respect shown and the appreciation of the older persons view and concerns.
