"Fantastic experience I would strongly recommend"

About: Queen Elizabeth Hospital / Maternity

Firstly I have been meaning to write this review for some time, sorry for the delay!

My experience at QE hospital maternity ward was amazing and has honestly left me with the best memories of delivering my little boy. As a first time Mum I was petrified, but all the staff at QE hospital reassured me every step of the way.

Firstly they have a dedicated phone number and email address which allowed me to speak to a midwife with any questions. The lady I spoke to on a number of occasions was very competent, reassuring and offered the best care/advice.

I visited the birthing suite during a tour and was desperate to be allowed a water birth. Again the staff that showed me around made it really feel like a home from home experience. They were great at selling the birth suite, whilst also managing expectations that not everyone can use the facilities, they are for low risk births.

Thirdly I had to visit triage on a few occasions and the staff were lovely, they handled examinations with dignity and I felt 100% in control of the decisions we made.

Thankfully I was allowed to labour in the birthing suite and had the water birth.

My midwife was with me throughout and was amazing, i really cannot recommend the hospital enough.

she was so receptive to when i wanted to be left alone, when i needed encouragement and also perform the routine checks with minimal interference.

The whole experience, (although painful) was one I look back at with the fondest of memories. I have and will continue to recommend the hospital to any of my pregnant friends.

Thank you to all the staff that work in the maternity ward, together you really do offer a service to be proud of.

I am so pleased to hear that you have had such a positive experience during your pregnancy, birth and the first few days with your baby and am grateful that you have taken the time to share your feedback with us; which I have passed on to the maternity teams.

We continually explore new ways of making our services accessible and strive to improve the care we are offering to all women during their pregnancy, labour and postnatal period and feedback such as yours helps us shape our services.

Please accept my best wishes for 2018 to you and your family.
