"Ageing staff appalling lack of care ward 11"

About: Castle Hill Hospital / General surgery

Some of the care staff are over 60 and one over 70 not a problem but when you have had abdominal surgery and severe arthritis you need a bit of assistance and the staff say

I'm 65 and got arthritis so I can't help .

When you ring to check on your loved one you are given inaccurate information i.e. She fine and yet she has a chest infection been put back in bed catheterised placed on anti biopics and they had contacted the critical care team and had tried to get an arterial sample so that does not appear she's fine to me

Surgical stockings were removed by staff and were still off 5 hours later when a member of nursing staff was asked she stated I've got a thumb injury so can't put them on .its a good job she was not required perform CPR.

My wife was told on the day of discharge they thought she had an infection so she was best stopping the extra night so the Dr could look in the morning .next day the Nurse told the Dr she was going home and no examination took place 6 days later my wife was admitted to A&E with a wound infection and ended up in I C U after surgery and is slowly on the mend .

Not much care the good nurses stand out amongst the lack of care
