On admission I informed the doctor that I was unable to take anti-inflammatory medication as it made me violently sick and that I had an anyeurism coil in place. Several hours later the only pain relief I had been offered was anti-inflammatory pills and the nurse insisted on telling me I had a clip in my head.
In the early hours of the morning following the minor op I went to the loo and the pad covering the wound fell to the floor. There were 4 nurses at the desk when I asked for a fresh one which I never received and I spent the night laying in my own blood. The next day I requested pain killers prior to the packing being removed and after 3 hours I gave up and took the pain killers I carried in my handbag.
I had been on an oxygen mask and at some time during the night a nurse came round and said "you've got that on upside down by the way" I was still drowsy from the anaesthetic yet she made no attempt to rectify the situation and just walked away.
"My overnight stay in hospital to have an abcess drained"
