"Pain"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital / Accident and emergency

Took my mum to hospital actually still in the hospital! For an abses causing excruciating pain. After passing out 5 time we go triaged and took to a bed. Where we waited for four hours to be seen! No one in the ward even knew what the issues were. Told not to eat and drink 4 hours later still not been seen and no pain relief. Which was again dangerous as my mum has diabetes. Nurses discussing their holidays and having tea, not talking to us about what is going on. After 4.5 hours my mum finally got pain relief (well part of it) got my fingers crossed for the intravenous antibiotics. Really Awlful treatment, sure it’s not 100% the nurses problems and sure they are under staffed it was this particular nurse I think was awlful. Another nurse has come round 2 times asking how everyone was and she was not even working on this ward. Terrible I feel sorry for the people going on their own to hospital with no one with them to chase up getting treated.

Thank you for your feedback which we will share with the Emergency Department Team. We are very sorry that you had concerns at such a worrying time for your family.

We hope that your mum is on the road to recovery from this episode of ill health.

Kindest regards,

The Patient Experience Team
