I stayed in York over the Christmas period (2017) at the Park Inn.
I wasn't very well when I travelled from Wakefield, since I'd caught a virus at work and I had developed a hacking, wheezing cough.
However, I thought a bit of self-medication would do the trick.
Unfortunately, over the night of Christmas Eve I had a terrible night and couldn't breathe properly.
The following morning, my daughter drove me to the A&E department of York Hospital.
I was told that it would be a four-hour wait, but I desperately needed help.
In fact, I was seen in less than one hour and came away with antibiotics.
I felt terrible bothering the staff on Christmas morning, but they were all so lovely and friendly; the doctor very efficient and sympathetic of my distress.
I can't speak more highly of the staff in this department and their devotion at Christmas is admirable.
"100 stars for the doctor and staff"
