Pain relief? Or lack of!!!! As I sit here watching my mum in agony and crying for pain relief I wonder how much longer she will wait........ one would think analgesia would be a priority and of utmost importance on an orthopedic ward but you are wrong.
Having already had discussions with the ward doctors during the day regarding appropriate analgesia I had imagined it would already be prescribed ready for when it was required...how foolish of me.
Despite those discussions the analgesia was not written up, so when my mum needed it over two hours ago, the nurses informed the 'one and only' trauma and orthopedic doctor covering the wards aswell as A&E... we are still waiting.... how on earth could this be acceptable in this day and age? Surely Mr Chief Executive you should be addressing your safe staffing issues as a priority; God forbid you should ever break your femur and have to wait this long for something as basic as analgesia!!!!!!
