"Fantastic experience which couldn't be bettered"

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary / Gynaecology

Today I accompanied a lady to the hospital to see a doctor after a blood test alerted her GP to the possibility she may have ovarian cancer.

We saw a lovely young lady doctor (30 minutes earlier than the appointment time) who chatted to her and then gave her an internal examination.

They weren't sure they could do an ultrasound scan but when it became obvious that the lady is extremely frantic about the situation they said that they would arrange this (they knew I had taken time off work to accompany her). She was seen for the scan within minutes and the results went straight to the doctor.

We were called back in after a short wait and given the good news that it looked clear but just be to be on the safe side they are going to refer her for a CT scan.

I cannot speak highly enough of all the staff, from the doctors to the receptionists.

What fantastic people let's give them a huge pat on the back, after all where would we be without them.

Many thanks to you all.

Dear Anne, thank you for taking the time to leave a review for Gynaecology at Leicester Royal Infirmary.

We are delighted to read that your friend/family member was promptly treated following a swift referral from her GP.

We fully appreciate in this situation your friend/family member would have been extremely concerned with the potential diagnosis but our staff were able to complete a scan and allay her fears, although still referring her for additional tests.

Your comments are appreciated and will be circulated to the teams involved in her care.

Kind regards, Communications Team, Leicester's Hospitals.
