"I felt as if the service has saved my life"

About: Inclusion Visions Thurrock (Drug & Alcohol Recovery Service)

(as a service user),

I came into treatment and I felt close to dying and this was due to painkiller addiction, I tried to come off them myself but quickly realised that I needed professional help, I called the service very early on a Monday morning and hoped that there would be someone to talk to and thankfully there was.

Within days of contacting the service I had a key worker and was put on to substitute prescribing, I felt as if the service has saved my life.

My key worker was brilliant and without the support of the service I probably would not be here now.

Hi there

What an uplifting story and thank you for sharing it. Very good to hear that you feel the support you received helped you make such significant changes in your life from the time you referred in.

Always inspiring to hear how you and others turn life around. I wish you all the best in whatever direction you go in taking your recovery forward.

In response to your comment about the group programme, the team is actually meeting this week to review it and put a plan in place to implement an updated programme based around service user feedback.. Most groups that currently run will continue but we will be adding to this so that it is more comprehensive. As soon as we have a launch date we will update everyone in the service user forum.

All the best

Emer
