"Staying over night on ward 23"

About: University Hospital (Coventry) / Gynaecology

So this evening I was emitted to ward 23 due to being unwell and dehydrated following that I'm 10 weeks pregnant.

In the past I had only come on ward 23 throughout the day time and all the nurses were welcoming and lovely and made you feel very comfortable.

I'm ashamed to say it's very different when staying in the hospital and having to deal with rude, ignorant night nurses and support workers who seem very unhappy to be at there job. When I went to draw my curtain not realising I had to keep it open, one nurse said to the other if " I think I'm in a hotel" which was very rude considering I could hear the whole conversation. She also didn't seem to realise that the only reason I was in hospital was to make sure my growing baby was okay. Definitely disappointed with the service that I received.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review on NHS Choices about your experience on Ward 23.

I was disappointed to hear that, while you had been happy with your previous visits to Ward 23, you were unhappy with the behaviour and attitude of the night staff who cared for you during your recent stay.

These are not the standards of care which we aim to provide, and I am truly sorry for your experience.

We would urge you to contact us directly as we would like to look into the issues you experienced in more detail, so that we can ensure that we improve the care we provide to other women.

You can contact our Trust’s Patient Advice and Liaison Service, please call 0800 028 4203 or email feedback@uhcw.nhs.uk

Before you contact them, you may also wish to contact me directly at susan.harrington@uhcw.nhs.uk.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your feedback, we appreciate all comments both positive and negative, as it helps us to better understand our patients’ needs and to continually improve.
