"Child emergency"

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary

Credit to the amazing staff on NHS 111 and Children's Emergency at the Royal Infirmary yesterday, who provided an amazing service, care and attention when we were worried about our 6 month old baby as he was projectile vomitting, luckily it was just due to an obstruction of gas and not a virus so after a lot of farting is feeling alot better and will be fine for Christmas 🤣😂 obviously when a baby is like that it is best to get them checked over, the staff were so good with Phoenix, reassuring to us as his worried parents and explaining everything along the way.

And even though they were working the early hours of Christmas eve and I can imagine alot would love to be spending this time at home with their families, they were all in high festive spirit. The horrible thing is to see how some parents can treat the staff, yes you are worried for your child, but being rude to the hospital staff isn't going to help the matter and they're doing their best. Another awful sight was when two grown men dragged their screaming 29 year old mate into child emergency, the nurses dealt with it very well but they shouldn't have to deal with this sort of behaviour, the unwell man proceeded to grab one of the arms of a female hospital staff and not let go even when she repeatedly told him to let go, when she finally got away from him her arm was bruised all over. This is Disgusting behaviour. People shouldnt have to go to work not knowing if they are going to be assaulted by a member of the public and come home injured and bruised.

Furthermore Whether the man was unwell and in a delirium, didnt know any better, his two grown mates should have known better than to drag him into child's emergency, adults emergency is kept separate for a reason. It was disgusting how they treated the staff who tried to help them, although the staff continued to act professionally and calm in a tense situation. A situation Which was also frightening to the children and parents witnessing it in the waiting room. Very impressed with the service provided and all the staff on shift. Thank you.

Dear reviewer, thank you for taking the time to leave a review and we are pleased to hear that our Children's A&E department were able to promptly help treat Phoenix and reassure you that he would be fine for Christmas.

We are sorry that you had to witness a disruption but glad that our staff were able to calmly deal with the issue.

Your comments are appreciated and will be circulated to the teams involved in the department.

We hope that you and Phoenix have had an enjoyable Christmas.

Best wishes for the new year, kind regards Communications Team, Leicester's Hospitals.
