"A&E visit"

About: Borders General Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as a service user),

My 2 year old came down with a croupy cough the night before Christmas Eve. A quick call to NHS 24 recommended a trip to A&E this morning. We walked straight in to see a nurse (Fiona). Fiona was excellent, kind and patient in her explanation to Patrick. She was thorough and reassuring. We left within 20 minutes feeling confident he had had the best treatment and would be feeling better for Christmas.

Thank you

Dear homamng36

Thank you for taking the time to share the details of your experience when you visited our Emergency Department with your 2 year old son. I was pleased to hear you had such a positive experience and found nurse Fiona to be kind, patient, thorough and reassuring. It can be a very worrying time having a sick child so it was great that you were able to leave with the confidence that he had had the best treatment.

I will share your story with staff in our Emergency Department who are always grateful to get feedback from our patients as this does help significantly with staff morale.

I hope your son has now fully recovered from his illness and you were all able to enjoy a wonderful Christmas.

Thanks,
Karen
