"A big thank you for your excellent care !!!"

About: St Bartholomew's Hospital

In mid November 2017 I had aortic root replacement open heart surgery. The care, professionalism and thoughtfullness of the surgeon and his team and the GUCH team was excellent, as well as my care in ICU and HDU. A special thank you to the clinical nurse specialists in the GUCH team for all their support and care before and after the surgery.

Last by not least, a great thank you to all the nursing and support staff in Ward 6D - I could not have been looked after better. My only observation is that coordination is sometimes lacking - eg. a techincian came to the ward and did my heart echo, and only an hour or so later one of the on-call doctors came round also to do an echo although I had already had one. I informed the doctor, so he did not repeat the test. Also, the process of being dischargeed from hospital is very/too long. I appreciate that there are many other patients, there is limited nursing staff and patients being discharged are not a priority, but it would be great if the process could be speeded up (post surgery it was exhausting waiting around).

Thank you so,so much from the bottom of my repaired heart !!!!
