Whilst undergoing Chemotherapy I picked up a cold and bad cough over the weekend in early Nov 2017 which resulted in contacting the Beatson Emergency Advice number first thing on the following Monday. After a brief discussion with a nursing adviser an ambulance was sent to take me into the Beatson acute treatment centre. The ambulance arrived within an hour and whilst being taken to Gartnaval I was given a thorough check over. At the Beatson centre I was immediately seen by a doctor and looked after by nursing staff who again carried out a thorough check including blood tests and xray. Later I was again seen by a second doctor and finally by a consultant. The end result was being sent home by taxi with a 7 day course of antibiotics. The treatment and care I received was excellent and reflects great credit on the Beatson acute unit and the service provided by the NHS. Thank you!
