"Disappointed with my post birth stay at..."

About: Whipps Cross University Hospital

What I liked

My experience of ante-natel care was very good.

The staff in ante - natel clinic and community midwives were very knowledgeable and provided a very good service.

What could be improved

The problem was with the actual hospital stay post birth, the midwives in the hospital were very busy and were not always willing to assit often pre-occupied with paperwork and they would make you wait till they did their rounds to attend to you rather than when you needed their help.

More staff in the wards is definitely required and they could be more respectfully in dealing and meeting the needs of nursing mothers.

Anything else?

Much is done to encourage mums to breastfeed in antenatel classes, but this work is let down by the midwives n the hospital ward who do not provide the support you are told you would receive in the classes.

i was very disappointed with this as the midwives were not readily available to assit or aware that this support was required of them as we had been informed that hey would be able to inform, assit and advice.

There was not enough staff, who made you feel like you were disturbing them when you tried to speak to them.

The lack of information was an issue, as the midwives would often not have an answer to questions asked and would readily say they dont know, and that was the end of it.

I could go on but i think ive made the point by saying - the attitude towards patients need to change.AttitudeCommunicationPatient careServiceBureaucracy
