"Ayrshire Hospice amazing care!"

About: Ayrshire Hospice

(as a relative),

A month ago our sister went to Ayrshire Hospice for the final stage of her journey after battling stomach cancer for 18 months. I would like to thank all the wonderful staff at the hospice for the amazing care they provided which allowed my sister to keep her respect and dignity at this difficult time.

Having worked in the NHS for over thirty five years I was amazed at the exceptional level of care and support shown to both my sister and the family. Staff were extremely professional, friendly and approachable at all times with nothing too much to ask.

The experience changed all of our opinions on what a hospice was like and we would thoroughly recommend Ayshire Hospice.

Dear thubanqw49,

Thank you so much for taking the time to post your comments, especially at this poignant time of year and also having recently lost your sister. Please accept my condolences.

Your feedback is very valuable to us. I appreciate all the comments received as they really do help us to improve our services or, indeed, help to confirm when our services are tailored properly to the needs of those using them.

Thank you for telling us about your sister's experience at the Ayrshire Hospice. It is good to know that your sister was happy with the care she received as an inpatient, and that she felt that her dignity and respect were maintained at all times. This aspect is so important to all our patients and their families, particularly at such a difficult time in one's life.

Your comments about the attitude and response of our wonderful employed and voluntary staff are very gratefully received and will be passed to the hospice team. They will be glad to know that your sister was happy with the care she received, and felt well supported. Our staff aim to provide optimal care and comfort and to "make today matter" for every person attending our hospice services, either in the inpatient unit or day services, or indeed in the community when delivering services to people in their own homes.

It is such a privilege to provide care for people at what is a vulnerable and difficult time in their life - and the lives of their loved ones. It is good to hear that your sister's experience of care, and the support provided to her family members, was the standard we would wish for our own families in similar circumstances.

I will ensure that all of our team are aware of your comments and opinion. I know your posting will fill them, as myself, with pride and appreciation for you taking the time to comment and recommend our services.

May I extend my best wishes to you and your family at this sad time, and also for 2018.

Mandy Yule
