"Knee injury"

About: Babington Hospital

I attended the Babington hospital physiotherapy unit in November 2017 after injuring my knee in a fall whilst climbing a mountain. Discussion with the physiotherapist (male) focused on my age (this is what I should expect), and a detailed discussion of the ligaments I had torn, A week later I was in such acute pain that I returned and was met with a hostile attitude asking why I had returned if the knee was not locking or giving way, an insistence that he would not be referring me for a scan as this was clearly not a surgical problem and to return in 6 weeks if the pain persisted. I then returned to the GP, had an MRI scan and was told that I had a crush fracture of the knee.

We were very sorry to hear of the poor experience you received when trying to access Physiotherapy Services at Babington Hospital.

This is not our usual standard of care and we would like to thank you for giving us the opportunity to investigate why this has happened.

I understand our clinical team leader has liaised with you and all your concerns have now been addressed and once your results are ready we will book you in with another member of staff.

Thank you for providing this feedback as we are committed to identifying opportunities for learning and to improve our patients experiences of services.

Kind regards

Chrissy Fairey, Patient Experience Information Officer
