"Shocking - poor patient care !"

About: Queen Elizabeth I I Hospital (Welwyn Garden City)

What I liked

Pre-Delivery care was ok.

What could be improved

Shift Change should be improved as this leaves patients with no care whislt staff are rushing to get out the door - new on duty staff to slow in starting the shift and filling the care gap between shifts.

Anything else?

My wife and new born son had to lie in their blood and other bits for nearly an hour before I had enough and changed the bedding and mopped up the blood on the floor myself!! The staff only came in after around 2 hours after my son was born - Shocking way to look after your patients 3rd world at best!!Opening hoursPatient careBeds

We're very sorry that this was your experience - we'll be passing it to the maternity team at the QEII for them to consider further. Clearly your observations need to be acted upon and this is what the maternity team will be asked to do.
