"Great care my mum received in day surgery"

About: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Day Surgery Unit

(as a relative),

I would like to thank the staff at the (gastro) day surgery unit who showed great compassion, care and showed passion for their job ( Amy and the other staff nurses who looked after my mum that day). My mum was very nervous about her procedure she was getting stones removed and her previous appointment had been cancelled, the nurses on the ward that day where amazing, they were very kind to her and others in the ward, she was checked on regularly and never left for long periods of time without her observations done or asking how she felt and they offered great after care information. ( I know this is their job and they were doing as they should) but after many previous bad experiences the previous month with staff within same hospital it was really nice to have such a nice experience and highlighted how care should be delivered.

The surgeons prior to the operation were very efficient and offered my mum lots of opportunities to ask any questions and explained the procedure very well which really helped my mums anxiety thanks to their skills my mum is now feeling much better and able to enjoy Christmas so thank you!.

We all left the hospital that day and said to each other that was really nice what great staff! so this is just a little note to say Thank you and recognition of the hard work that you all put in on a daily basis it really did show that day.

Thank you for the kind way you treated myself, my sister and my mum.

Dear 123p

Thank you very much for sharing your lovely feedback with us following your mum's procedure in the Daycase Unit of the Royal Infirmary if Edinburgh.

I was really pleased to read how all the staff were able to care for your mum, reassuring her and allowing her time to ask questions and explain what was happening, especially when she was so anxious beforehand.

I have shared your lovely feedback with the team and l am sure that they will be delighted with your kind words.

I am glad to read that you mum is now feeling better and hope that you all have a happy Christmas.
