"Appointment with Orthotics"

About: George Eliot Hospital - Acute Services / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

We went to outpatients as normal to be told "You know it's moved". Obviously if we knew, we would have gone to the correct place. Having found the new location we were abruptly told by the receptionist that we needed to check in outside. We discovered a self check in screen but the signage was not installed and was on a cabinet near by. We went back to the receptionist who then said we were to wait in the physiotherapy waiting room. We then ran in to the Orthotist who said they could give us five minutes, as by now, we were quite late for our appointment.

We actually felt like walking out but we went ahead.

I'm sure you will agree that this situation falls well below the service that a patient should receive.

I apologise for the lack of signage advising that the Orthodontics department has moved. Apart from a small notice on the office door I could not find anything else. I have sent an email to the department manager asking that the signage be increased. Thank you for making us aware of this problem.

Kind regards

Christne Longstaff on behalf of the George Eliot Hospiatl NHS Trust.
