I was diagnosed after my first mammogram with Stage 2 Cancer both in my breast and lymphatic. The staff at both Irvine and Crosshouse Hospitals took me through my early prognosis and then I was transferred to my local hospital in Dumfries.
I was introduced to Carol one of the Cancer Nurses who was so supportive and after your first meeting you felt you had a good friend and confidant.
As for the Oncology Team who treated me with my Chemo they were amazing. As a team you soon learned they were a big supportive family and their patients came first.
The nurses always welcomed you with your first name even if they were not treating you. While in the clinic your whole wellbeing was priority they would talk to you, give you suggestions and encouraged patients to share their Cancer journey. No words can express how much I appreciate the whole team at Oncology at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary but the picture shows the bond between patient and staff. My journey continues but I am sure these wonderful people will be a major part of it. Thank you to one and all.
