I self-referred to the Hounslow IAPT well-being for mums group. There was a bit of a back and forth to get to speak to someone, but once I did, I spoke to the mail facilitator of the group. She gave me the choice of joining a group that had already begun or starting on the next one.
The sessions were well planned individually and there was coherence across the whole course.
Good resources for us to keep.
The facilities made me feel welcome and relaxed. it helped that it was a small group.
Most of the time I felt able to express myself but once or twice I felt like the facilitators didn't really know what to say- so there are some issues I still feel need help with on a one-to-one basis. Don't get me wrong, they were skilled and friendly, but I tended to keep comments lighter after that week and still feel uncomfortable as I found that sharing experiences of being a new mum just as useful as the therapeutic element of the sessions, and being a support to other as well as receiving support.
