"Made to feel welcome and relaxed"

About: Hounslow IAPT

(as a service user),

I self-referred to the Hounslow IAPT well-being for mums group. There was a bit of a back and forth to get to speak to someone, but once I did, I spoke to the mail facilitator of the group. She gave me the choice of joining a group that had already begun or starting on the next one.

The sessions were well planned individually and there was coherence across the whole course.

Good resources for us to keep.

The facilities made me feel welcome and relaxed. it helped that it was a small group.

Most of the time I felt able to express myself but once or twice I felt like the facilitators didn't really know what to say- so there are some issues I still feel need help with on a one-to-one basis. Don't get me wrong, they were skilled and friendly, but I tended to keep comments lighter after that week and still feel uncomfortable as I found that sharing experiences of being a new mum just as useful as the therapeutic element of the sessions, and being a support to other as well as receiving support.

Hello rainhw33,

Thank you very much for posting your feedback. It is useful to hear from people who use our service about what went well as well as areas we can try to improve on.

I am sorry to hear your difficulties in trying to speak to someone initially. It is encouraging to hear you found the group useful, especially the resources and that you were made to feel relaxed and welcomed.

It still sounds however, that you could benefit from additional support especially if you were unable to fully open up in the group about what you are struggling with the most. I would encourage that you get back in touch with the facilitators of the course who can reassess your needs and see what additional assistance we can provide on: 0300 123 0739.

I would like to thank you again for your feedback and it is inspiring to hear how you have been able to receive some support as well as support other mothers sharing similar experiences.

Best Wishes,

Hounslow IAPT
