Having had 2 mastoidectomies in the past, I went to my GP with with an ear infection. Received antibiotics which didn’t help, so back to the GP as in a lot of pain. I was seen by paramedic and GP and they wanted me seen urgently at ENT because of the risk of another mastoid infection which can have serious implications if left. Was sent to WHH following day (although they weren’t happy about seeing me and only paramedics insistence ensured I was seen). Morning of appt I had severe balance problems. Saw a ? Registrar who called consultant in. I found the consultant most unhelpful, as if I was wasting their time and they told the registrar to book a routine CT and routine appt at QEQM. The consultant was very adamant that this should be routine. This has resulted in me having a month off work, had my CT this week (after lots of ringing and speaking to a very lovely member of staff), still no appt and still in lots of pain. I am very anxious and worried that this delay is going to end up causing more problems with my ear.
